KNITFEST – YARN & FIBRE ARTS FESTIVAL
When: June 30 – July 1

Maleny explodes in a sea of colour as the Knitfest Yarn and Fibre Arts festival takes over the town. Yarnbombing is the showcase of this event where the town’s streetscape is wrapped in art, as the Knitfest team bomb trees, buildings and inanimate objects. The festival hosts 30 workshops, guest speakers, music, trade stalls, demonstrations and competitions. Take the free Knitfest Bus as it weaves around the festival precinct and past the colourfully decorated trees towards the Showgrounds. HINTERLAND CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL
When: Saturday, June 30
Time: Noon to 8pm
Where: Imperial Hotel, Eumundi
The inaugural Hinterland Craft Beer Festival features celebrated Sunshine Coast breweries including Land & Sea Brewery, Brouhaha Brewery, Eumundi Brewery and Sunshine Brewery. SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL

MARY VALLEY ART FESTIVAL
When: July 6-8
Where: Imbil Public Hall, Imbil
The Mary Valley Art Festival is held on the first weekend each July in Imbil, Mary Valley Country, and showcases entries from talented artists throughout southeast Queensland in a competition offering more than $7000 in prize money. Each year the artwork on display is testament to the creative abilities of individuals residing in their communities, while visitors attending the festival share the privilege of being able to view or buy the results of many hours of intense effort and passion.

ONE-ACT PLAY FESTIVAL
When: Starts Thursday, July 12
Where: Noosa Arts Theatre, 163 Weyba Rd, Noosaville
Since 1978, Noosa Arts Theatre has been running the National One-act Playwriting Competition. With an $8000 cash prize pool, including The Eleanor Nimmo Prize of $5000 for best play, it attracts entries from playwrights throughout Australia and abroad. Scripts are judged anonymously by a professional panel of three industry experts. The three finalists are selected on the quality of the writing, not on subject matter; and the winning order is decided before the plays are presented in this festival.
