DOWN ON THE FARM AN IDEAL BACKDROP
COUPLE CREATES SPECIAL MEMORIES AT MAPLETON
IT MAY have clashed with the Royal Wedding in London, but down-to-earth couple Cassandra Duncan and Kale Piddington wanted a more rustic-style wedding on May 19. The bride prepared for the ceremony at The Falls Farm’s Smith House, just outside the Mapleton property, and arrived in a friend’s vintage car. Kale cried the minute he saw her. But there was no need for embarrassment as they were certainly among friends – 100 of them, including Christy Cherry who made the cake and celebrant Dawn Bartle who officiated at the nuptials. Cassie and Kale hired the Falls Farm for the ceremony and reception, and the 12ha family-run organic retreat was the ideal backdrop for all the photos of their special day by Amy Hinks Photography. The bride bought flowers from Brisbane Flower Markets and, with the help of her bridesmaids, made all the bouquets herself. She included kale in her bouquet as a symbol of love for her new husband. The reception overlooked one of the property’s dams. The clear marquee set under the stars, with firepits nearby and aromas of the Fire In The Belly pizza provided a feast for the senses. The Piddingtons bought a block of land at Caloundra South’s Aura estate in 2016 and have built their first home together.
