Be sure to take in some of the Geelong sights before heading out to the wineries. Art lovers will enjoy the excellent collection of Australian art at the Geelong Art Gallery. For more contemporary works, check out what’s showing at Boom Gallery in a red-brick old wool mill building near the Barwon River. The Narana Aboriginal Culture Centre in nearby Grovedale has a gallery with Victoria’s largest collection of indigenous art as well as fascinating insights into Aboriginal culture. The Bellarine beckons with beautiful beaches and quaint, laid-back coastal towns. Stroll the streetscape of 19th-century buildings in historic Queenscliff and take a guided tour of Fort Queenscliff, explore the lighthouse at Point Lonsdale, take a long walk along the stunning stretch of beach at Ocean Grove, and grab your board for a surf at Barwon Heads’ Thirteenth Beach.
