Not too long ago Nokia was the king of phones. But today the Finnish brand is targeting the budget end of the market instead of trying to take on Samsung and Apple. The Nokia 7.1 is about one third of the price of its higher end competitors. But the 7.1 looks like a modern smartphone, with minimal bezels and an iphone X-style “notch” for the front camera. The front 5.8-inch screen is of good quality and supports High Dynamic Range content. The 7.1 features twin rear cameras, including one lens for depth of field and portrait mode effects. But it is not quite up to taking on the more expensive lenses in more expensive competitors. The phone is only available unlocked at JB Hi-fi and Harvey Norman. Price $499.
