RAZORBACK ART GALLERY ADDS TO MONTVILLE’S SMORGASBORD OF CREATIVE OFFERINGS
Razorback Art Gallery is a new art gallery in Montville, representing a number of high-quality, local professional artists. The artists are in various stages of their careers – from well-established to emerging – and displaying a variety of media. Fabulous reductive lino cuts rub shoulders with oil landscapes and abstract acrylics. Razorback is part of the increasing number of galleries in Montville, Maleny and the Sunshine Coast hinterland, forging a stronger art identity for the region. A strong curatorial influence is important to the directors, which ensures a consistent quality and high standard of art. Regular visitors will notice an everchanging range of inspirational works. University of the Sunshine Coast Art Gallery Exhibitionx: Design students Exhibition dates: Until December 8 Exhibition X: The future begins now presents the work of students nearing the completion of their studies in design at USC. The exhibition encompasses animation and visualisation design, interaction and UX design, serious games design and visual communication. Exhibition X is all about forward thinking: futurism. It stems from the ideas of closing doors, finishing things off and the end of an era, but also a beginning. Razorback Art Gallery, Montville Kim Herringe and Julie Hanrahan: Feature artists Exhibition dates: Until December 31 Maleny-based printmakers Kim Herringe and Julie Hanrahan are featured in December. Herringe is a master of the limited-edition reduction lino cut and incorporates natural environments and wildlife in her exquisitely detailed works. Hanrahan uses images of Australian flora to create intricately carved lino blocks and then hand-paints the prints with watercolours. Both artists have works available framed and unframed. Pomona Railway Station Gallery She Let Go: Gallery artists Exhibition Dates: Until December 15 She Let Go is an exhibition by seven local women who meet regularly to create, play and journal. The collection of artworks are inspired by the poem She Let Go by Reverend Safire Rose. Art on Cairncross Precious Little: Gallery artists Exhibition dates: Until December 24 This is the annual exhibition of smaller artworks by the artists represented at the gallery. With Christmas in mind, this is an excellent opportunity to buy gifts of smaller works by leading artists.
