SAY SUMMER WITH HANDS

CHOOSE YOUR LOOK AND YOUR COLOUR AND THEN NAIL IT

Life & Style Weekend - - FASHION - WORDS: TAM WRIGLEY

Out-there nails have never been more in vogue. Look no further than Cardi B, zeitgeist queen of the moment, who is never seen without blinged-out nails, or Blake Lively’s Met Gala talons, which prove that nail art isn’t niche any more – it’s gone mainstream. Creations can feature anything from pearls, and crystals, to metal embellishments. Artists can add bows, roses, holographic finishes and, of course, custom hand-sculpted acrylic embellishments. The sky is the limit. Choosing what goes on your cuticle canvas can be a daunting decision, and for good reason – nails are real talking points, and your choice of colour says a lot about you.

Nude

A slightly more modern look than the classic French, but still very versatile and low maintenance. Nude nails are a favourite for those of us who want minimal fuss and want to look put together without drawing any attention. If this is your colour of choice, you’re the quietly confident type.

Red

A bold red is a classic choice. It’s a powerful and sophisticated option, but one that still has a vampy edge. Women who choose red are normally classic, contemporary and confident. You know what you want and aren’t to be messed with.

Metallics

A little more impact and originality than a nude. Those of us who choose metallics like attention – but not too much. With that subtle sparkle, they’re worn by those of us who don’t clamour for attention but love it once we’ve got it.

Ombre

You’re just beginning to venture outside block colours, but you only want to dip your toe in. Ombre nails mean versatility. They’re perfect for the girl who wants to show she’s on trend, and knows how to maintain herself, but still likes the classic look. She appreciates trends but isn’t led by them.
