Life & Style Weekend - - ESCAPE -

Jump boots’n’all into a full day at CS and you’ll always get your money’s worth. But you don’t need to pay big bucks to soak up the atmosphere. Entry to Stampede Park, where much of the free fun takes place, is complimentary for the day when you buy Calgary Stampede Rodeo and Evening Show tickets in advance. But general entry also is free before 11am on a Sunday Family Day. The Calgary Stampede excitement actually starts long before you walk through the gates. Each year, the CS officially begins with the Calgary Stampede Parade, which will hit the streets of downtown Calgary this year on Friday, July 5. Canadians, like their other North American neighbours, love a parade. And this procession is a taste of what is to come over 12 venues in the CS grounds. Throughout the CS festival, city bars and restaurants overflow day and night with big-buckled, blue-jeaned, cowboy-hatted, boot-wearing partygoers eating their way through big-steak and Tex-mex-style meals and swilling beers and whiskeys.
