Life & Style Weekend - - HOME - WORDS: DANNI MORRISON

Normally I wouldn’t write about such things as real estate or a certain home in particular. I’m an interiors blogger, so home, lifestyle and interior living is more my jam. However, just down the road from my favourite cafe in Cotton Tree is a special development I’ve been closely keeping my eye on. Special because three beautiful new homes, each with a plunge pool positioned perfectly two streets back from Maroochydore beach is difficult to find. Secondly, the homes are presented in coastal style, which is what caught my eye in the first place. As my obsession for “all white everything” continues to grow every day, so this development ticks all the boxes. The builders have strategically introduced key materials to contrast the white and reflect our casual, coastal lifestyle. A stone-clad entry and statement pandanus tree form hero pieces to balance the muted

white backdrop. But it’s inside each house that sings to my soul. I caught up with the owners Mick and Deanna and here’s what they had to say about the development.

Can you tell us about the build itself and what inspired you to take on this project?

We purchased the original little beach shack that sat on this piece of land, gave it a coat of paint and shifted. We did not realise at the time, but we soon discovered that Fifth Ave was to be one of the best streets we have lived in. Grab a surfboard, cross the road for a morning surf and then again in the afternoon ( just because we can). Bike rides, walks along the path and the beach with the dog, best coffee ever just around the corner and walking distance to restaurants, bars – for us this is our lifestyle. We soon realised we weren’t leaving, and it was our desire to emulate that 1950s beach shack feel but with the inclusion of elegant and luxurious finishes this time.

The style of the property is just stunning, tell us about the style and design behind the townhouses.

Coastal beach house is our lifestyle – white and timber floors are us. The 1950s beach shack with the modern finishes. Lots of light filtering in and a layout that can be utilised for a single person, a couple or a family. We feel that this style is timeless, the design gives us a sense of residence and privacy. Four bedrooms, an office and our own private plunge poolare just a few of our design features. We have really tried to be mindful of what is important to us – a keyless entry for all those walks to and from the beach and cafes, an outdoor shower to rinse off afterwards and internally, some segregation over the three levels. Two of the three properties are for sale and you can find them on reale at 33 Fifth Avenue, Maroochydore.
