A GREAT OPTION FOR THE HOLIDAYS
AS THE WEATHER TURNS SLIGHTLY CHILLY, A TOUR OF REGION’S GALLERIES IS SOMETHING TO SAVOUR
Easter and the school holidays are great times to check out what the Sunshine Coast has on offer in its great range of art galleries. As the weather cools and the beach is not so attractive, the art galleries are a great alternative. If you are around the southern end of the Coast, there are great exhibits including the Caloundra Regional Gallery and Red Ink Rodeo Studio in Caloundra, with Seaview Artists and Holloway Galleries located at Moffat Beach. To the north, Mooloolaba has the wonderful Gallery Beneath and Blue Chip Investment Art Gallery, Maroochydore hosts its Library Art Space and further on at Coolum is the Cool Art Gallery. Around Noosa, you will find the regional gallery at Tewantin and great displays in Hastings St including Jive Art, Tracey Keller and Nissarana Galleries. Collectors Fine Art is in Noosa Junction, while the Old Pomona Railway Station Gallery is to the north. The hinterland is alive with art. Apart from some unique art at the famous markets, look for Artisan Gallery and Wan’din’in Gallery in Eumundi. Stevens St Gallery and the Yandina Historic House Art Gallery are features in Yandina and in Buderim, try Art Nuvo with a great range of paintings, prints, ceramic and sculpture. The Blackall Range has always had a plethora of visual arts. An array of pieces
from David Linton, Peace of Green, Maleny Art Direct and Ben Messina are all located in Maleny, with Art on Cairncross out near the wonderful Glass House Mountains. Montville is home to Ben Messina’s second photographic gallery, along with the iconic Montville Gallery, great craft at Makersville, exquisite glass at Illume Creations, and the new Katherine Wood Fine Art (behind the waterwheel). Secrets is located just out of town on the beautiful shores of Lake Baroon. All this makes for a great day out or maybe a tour over several days, lunching as you go at one of the many popular restaurants and cafes. See you in an art gallery soon. Check the Sunshine Coast Art Gallery Trail website for individual galleries opening hours at www.sunshinecoastartgallerytrail.com.au
