Life & Style Weekend - - Q & A - BRETT FAWCETT business owner and director

Brett Fawcett is the co-owner and director of Riba Kai Maroochydore. He has made his mark on the region as a long-term business owner and his passion for hospitality is testament to his success.

Riba Kai, which was initially located inside Sunshine Plaza, has a strong reputation among locals for its great service, delicious food and pumping atmosphere.

Now located at The Concept complex in Maroochydore, Brett and business partner Kylie Pizzirani have taken the much-loved restaurant to a whole new level.

As dedicated and hard-working owners, you can catch Brett or Kylie at the venue just about any day of the week.

1 Favourite time of day and why? About 9pm when my work is done and it’s time to enjoy a glass of red wine to wind down from the day.

2 What excites you?

Finding a new restaurant that blows my mind in terms of service, food and atmosphere.

3 Favourite sport? Player or spectator? I love watching Formula One racing.

But I wouldn’t turn down an offer to drive one of those cars myself !

4 Best childhood memory?

Annual Gold Coast holidays with the family and hanging out on the beach with my brothers.

5 Where were you born? Townsville.

6 Where would you like to holiday? Spain and Italy, and I’m really excited to be going there later this year.

7 Cats or dogs? Do you have a pet?

I’m torn! I love both, but I do have a two-year-old Golden Cocker Spaniel named Hudson.

8 Who are your heroes?

My parents – their courage and determination in life and business, and ability to have fun along the way.

9 Dream job?

I already love what I do but if I was ever given the opportunity, I wouldn’t say no to flying a plane.

10 What will you be doing in 10 years? Hopefully relaxing a little and seeing more of the world.

11 What’s the best thing about living on the Sunshine Coast?

Our relaxed lifestyle and having my girlfriend, family and friends all close by.
