THIS IS ME

A REGULAR INSIGHT INTO SUNSHINE COAST PERSONALITIES

Life & Style Weekend - - Q & A - CAROLE TRETHEWAY HOME INTERIORS GURU AND OWNER OF CAROLE TRETHEWAY DESIGN

Noosa local Carole Tretheway has lived interstate and abroad but something about the region keeps her coming back each time.

As a interior designer, Carole is known in the community and is distinguished by her individual creativity as well as her thriving business.

Favourite time of day and why? 1

Watering the garden as the sun is setting with a glass of wine in my hand. I love working in my garden.

It gives me so much pleasure.

What excites you? 2

Seeing a client’s reaction when they first see their project completed. It’s very satisfying.

Many times I have had clients shed tears of joy.

Favourite sport? Player or spectator? 3

I love tennis, as a spectator and player. I learnt tennis in my youth and have recently taken up the sport again with a gorgeous and patient Brazilian tennis coach. I have discovered that the techniques are very different now. I’m loving it.

Best childhood memory? 4

Sitting on a timber seat which my brother (Stephen Kidd) had made for his bike crossbar. I recall it also had some fake fur for comfort.

I must have been very young. Stephen would take me with him when he delivered newspapers in the neighbourhood.

Where were you born? 5

I was born in Melbourne to English parents. We moved to Sydney when I was very young. When I turned 16, my father decided that he wanted to retire in York, England. It was a great opportunity for me to study and travel, and then return to Australia eight years later.

Where would you like to holiday? 6

I am planning a holiday in Sicily. I love Italy and feel very at home when I am there, perhaps because my grandmother was Italian.

Cats or dogs? Do you have a pet? 7

I love both and have two gorgeous Burmese cats (Mimi and Sacha). They are indoor cats but I have created a wonderful outdoor room attached to my house, which they enjoy.

Who are your heroes? 8

My mother was definitely one of my heroes. She demonstrated amazing resilience with her health challenges throughout her life and was always smiling.

Dream job? 9

I’m in my dream job. I can assist clients in achieving stunning and positive design outcomes in their home or business which is very personal and an absolute privilege.

I love working with my great team at Carole Tretheway Design along with our trusted builders, tradespeople and suppliers.

It’s a real team effort.

What will you be doing in 10 years? 10

Continuing to enjoy working in my business and travelling to beautiful obscure places on this planet. I want to be playing tennis and living life to its fullest.

What’s the best thing about living on 11 the Sunshine Coast?

I first came to Noosa in 1982 and fell in love immediately.

I love the natural environment on the Coast and in the hinterland.

I love our fabulous farmers’ markets, the dining experiences and, of course, the people. of the area.

This quote embodies the Sunshine Coast: “If paradise exists on Earth, it is here, it is here.”
