Mother’s Day at the Morton household

Life & Style Weekend - - COVER STORY -

What was your best Mother’s Day?

I'll never forget one year when the kids were really little and I was still asleep, they were so excited about such an event they made breakfast all on their own. Coty would have been about five, Rafe three and JJ a baby. They brought it in on a little tray with every kind of breakfast food you can imagine, complete with watermelon cut into slices so big, I needed two hands. Seeing their joy was very beautiful, despite the irresponsible parenting of having no idea they were doing it at the time.

How are you spending Mother’s Day this year?

This year I will be watching my boys play AFL which is heaps of fun. Then we will go out for brunch to celebrate.

How does your family show they appreciate you on every other regular day?

My kids are so beautiful, I really appreciate them. They make me feel appreciated by all their cuddles and stories and opinions on life. As they get older they do little things that mean the world. Coty makes me a coffee and we spend a lot of time together. Rafe loves conversation, JJ makes me laugh all the time, and Tula is just so much fun. I am so, so, so lucky to have them and I feel grateful every day.
