Mys­tery judges are eat­ing their way across the divine Sun­shine Coast restau­rant scene to de­ter­mine the best in the busi­ness. Led by head judge Travis Schultz, five other anony­mous judges have been se­lected to visit mul­ti­ple restau­rants each month and sub­mit their thoughts in a re­view.

All six judges come from suc­cess­ful food, wine, hos­pi­tal­ity or bev­er­age back­grounds, with ex­ten­sive ex­pe­ri­ence and knowl­edge in the in­dus­try in or­der to pro­vide a knowl­edge­able re­view. Mr Schultz’s role of head judge is to as­sist in mod­er­a­tion and as­sess­ment by the judges, and to as­sist in giv­ing guid­ance where re­quired as to the ap­pli­ca­tion of a pre­de­ter­mined set of cri­te­ria to an in­di­vid­ual venue.

The in­tegrity of the awards re­quires that judges main­tain con­fi­den­tial­ity.

Judges are not to iden­tify them­selves as a judge while din­ing at any venue.

When the award win­ners are an­nounced, all judges will be pub­licly iden­ti­fied and pub­lished.

Mr Schultz said the awards were a first for the Coast re­gion and would high­light the culi­nary suc­cess on our doorstep. The lead­ing restau­rants will also be fea­tured in an ex­clu­sive pub­li­ca­tion ti­tled The Best Restau­rants on the Coast which will be printed at the end of the year.
