How we tested...
We tested all software on a dual-core laptop with 4GB of memory, running Ubuntu 16.10.
When starting out it is very useful to use tutorials to understand the basics of a program and to see if it suits you and your project. So for this test, we explored how well the tutorials had been made and how quickly we could get started. We also tried to make the same piece in all the programs to see how quickly we could make a nice blueprint or convert it to other formats.
The installation process was also tested for convenience and availability for distributions.
We also looked at where and what you can download and upload for each program, when sharing and re-using your works over the web.
Finally, we made a short exploration into scripting shapes, useful for artistic designs.
