How we tested...
Several major mainstream desktop distributions offer a choice of multiple desktop environments. You can also install KDE on top of virtually every desktop distribution. For this Roundup, however, we focus on distributions that work around the KDE desktop. For a project to make the cut, the distribution needs to have an official KDE flavour.
KDE itself puts out the KDE Neon Live environment, but we haven’t included it since by its own admission KDE Neon doesn’t consider itself a distro, but rather a showcase for the KDE desktop.
We’ll compare the distributions on parameters such as their default packages and update mechanisms. The criteria that will play a major part in helping decide the winner, however, are look and feel. The distro that helps users experience the best of KDE will score over the others.
