Image problem

I changed my old computer from Windows XP to Linux Mint and have had mixed results. The terminal posed no threats, as I started computing with CP/M, then DOS and then Windows 3. My problem is there doesn’t appear to be any help in an idiotproof form, and one has to struggle with online help.

I can and do use email and LibreOffice without any real problems, but when it comes to Gimp and Gramps I am completely lost. So for the moment I continue to write letters, email and print, but that’s about it.

Your magazine goes straight over my head and I end up going to my laptop running Windows 10 to use the family tree program that I’m familiar with. I’m finding Linux is nowhere near the same simplicity level. Hopefully, the Linux community will realise that there are interested parties that need coaxing with answers that are not unintelligible RobinStrachan, viaemail Neil says: I think you’ve hit the nail on the head when it comes to a core weakness in the FOSS world and that’s the user experience, or UX as the kids like to label it. Coders like to concentrate on the code and feature, while perhaps in many projects, the user interface doesn’t get the attention it deserves. It feels like that’s starting to change, but as always the commercial world is certainly a few steps ahead.
