Community events news
Sheffield will play host to Oggcamp 2018 on 18 and 19 August. Over the years the organising team has organically become one with the community and now we find that the community are organising the event. Beyond the traditional two days of talks, workshops and stalls, Oggcamp is an expression of admiration for Linux and the community. We urge you to go and enjoy the event, talk to new people and learn more about their projects. More details and ticket information is on the website: www.oggcamp.org.
The Gnome conference this year takes place in Almería, Spain from 6 to 11 July. The conference is all about the Gnome desktop and applications that rely upon it. At GUADEC you can expect talks and workshops based around the Gnome ecosystem, along with training sessions to train new Gnome developers and to keep existing developers up to date with the latest skills. More details at: https://2018.guadec.org.
The Northern hacker conference takes place in Sheffield on 7 July. We went to the 2016 event and were blown away by the hospitality of the crew and the quality of the talks – explaining how DDOS attacks propagate, and how smart cars can be hacked being highlights. There’s a kids’ track and lots of hardware hacking with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Tickets will go quick, so head over to the website to learn more: www.steelcon.info.
