This tool obviates the need to manually edit XML files (which is what dynamic wallpapers really are), and serves you with a nice, welcoming GUI for arranging image files and transitions.
The suggested workflow is a piece of cake: import some images, rearrange them if necessary, define each image’s duration, set the transition speed, adjust the start time of the slideshow and finally save your work as XML. You don’t need to switch to Gnome’s wallpaper settings; instead, just hit the ‘Set as wallpaper’ button in the application, and you’re done.
Perhaps the most spectacular thing you can do with Dynamic Wallpaper Editor is to make a single wallpaper change according to the time of the day. To do so you’ll need several shots of the same place taken at different times. The more shots there are, the more smooth and natural the transition will be. It all comes down to adjusting time periods in such a way that your dynamic wallpaper will change precisely with time. Of course, nothing prevents you from going with a classic slideshow made from different pictures instead, or making some other sort of semi-animation.
