TRYING COOL

-

As with LibreOffice, everyone is welcome to try, download and contribute to Collabora Online.

You’re able to view the source code (https://github.com/CollaboraOnline/ online), download packages (www. collaboraoffice.com/code/linuxpackages) and Docker images (https:// hub.docker.com/r/collabora/code/),

or spin up a real-time demo (www. collaboraoffice.com/popup-collaboraonline-demo) and subscribe to onpremise supported packages for upwards of 20 users.

First ensure you have Docker installed for Ubuntu:

$ sudo apt install docker.io

Find out the IP address of your computer; for example, 192.168.100.20. For Ubuntu:

$ ip address | grep inet

Run Nextcloud from Docker – this downloads a package of 400MB or so:

$ sudo docker run -d -p 80:80 nextcloud

In your browser, go to http:// and set up your Nextcloud, stick with SQLite and any old username and password, and skip installing extra apps. Click the top-right profile icons then Apps + > Office and Text > Nextcloud Office, then click Install.

Go back to the terminal to run CODE from Docker. Again, this will download packages that amount to about 800MB in total:

$ sudo docker run -t -d -p 9980:9980 -e “extra_params=--o:ssl.enable=false” collabora/code

In a browser, return to Nextcloud and

select the top-right profile icon then Administration Settings. You’ll see a security warning, but don’t worry because this is just a test install. Locate Nextcloud Office in the left-hand menu, select this, then click Use Your Own Server. Enter http://:9980 and select Disable Certificate Verification. Back at the Dashboard, select the Expense Report to see a shared spreadsheet in action.
