Here’s another shooting game with a different perspective. Empty Clip is a top-down shooting RPG that involves fighting hordes of spiders, bats, zombies, aliens and more.

The game is available on FlatHub – install it with flatpak install flathub io.gitlab.jazztickets.emptyclip . Once done, fire it up from the Applications menu or with flatpak run io.gitlab.jazztickets.emptyclip . After launching Empty Clip, click Play to bring up the character selection screen. Select an empty slot, then name your character and select a colour for their trousers. By default, all characters have multiple lives, but if you toggle the Hardcore box while creating the character, it only has one life. Once your character is created, double-click it or click Play to begin the game. Your goal is to kill anything that moves using the weapons at your disposal, as you blast your way through multiple levels infested by the undead.

Use the ESDF keys to move through the map, which you can view by pressing Tab. You can use the mouse to change the orientation of your character. This is useful, as you move slowly when going backwards, so make sure you always point in the right direction.

Left-click fires the selected weapon, while holding right-click aims it, which increases accuracy. Holding the A key allows you to sprint, but depletes the replenishable stamina. Use your stamina wisely because your character will be out of breath and trudge along slowly and be unable to sprint away from any nearby danger while it regains stamina.

When you begin playing, the game familiarises you with its controls for activities such as opening doors and picking up items. You can change the default keys from the Options menu in the game.

?? ?? Empty Clip follows the standard shoot’em-up script: point at anything that moves and fire away.
