Hi Melissa! How did you land your role with the Melbourne Football Club?

I was named as a marquee player and drafted to Melbourne along with Daisy Pearce in July 2016, which was an incredibly exciting day for me.

Wow! So what have been your most memorable footy highlights over the years?

I have been fortunate enough to win seven premierships in my time playing State League football for Darebin Falcons, and playing for Melbourne at the MCG and Etihad Stadium have been very memorable and then the very first win of ours in AFLW season 1.

How often does the team have training?

In pre season we train three

times a week and twice when we are in season.

What skills do you need to become a top footy player?

Discipline, hard work, resilience and a few different footy skills also help.

How can Little Angel readers perfect their footy games? Any skills they should work on?

Kicking is very important as it’s the main way we move the ball in football! Handballing, marking and tackling are also very helpful skills for football.

You’re also an ambassador for Auskick. What is that?

NAB AFL Auskick is a fun

way for boys and girls aged between 5 and 12 to learn the skills of Aussie rules football.

Who are your heroes?

My parents are amazing role models for me, and then there are many amazing women in my life I look up to like Jemma Wong, Emma Race, Daisy Pearce and Debbie Lee.

When you’re not busy kicking a footy around, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I love spending time with my friends and family, going to cafes and restaurants, going to movies and going for bushwalks.
