STEP 1. Make or buy some plain chocolate cupcakes. If you’re making your own, let them cool completely. Now take your cookie or scone cutter and press it into the middle of each cupcake. Carefully remove a small portion of each cupcake, but keep these bits because you’ll need them later. Make sure you don’t press down too hard – we want to leave the bottom of each cupcake intact.
STEP 2. Fill the holes in your cupcakes with mini M&Ms. Press down gently with your fingers so the mini M&Ms are tightly packed inside.
STEP 3. Gently put the tops back into each cupcake. Use your fingers to carefully push down so your cupcakes look normal again.
STEP 4. Ice each cupcake with chocolate frosting! You can make your own using icing sugar, butter and milk, or buy pre-made frosting at the supermarket. Be gentle when icing your cupcake as you don’t want to disturb the tops you squished back in. Then decorate the cupcake with 100s and 1000s, and you’re done!
