Hi Jael! Congrats on being chosen to represent Australia! How did you feel when you first heard the news?

I was so excited and totally shocked – I knew that this meant that so many incredible opportunities were going to happen.

What can you tell us about the song you’re going to perform at Junior Eurovision?

My song is called ‘Champion’ and it’s got a great message. Hopefully it will inspire kids to believe in themselves. My performance is a surprise but it will really tell the story of the song.

The contest will take place at Minsk Arena in Belarus. Are you looking forward to travelling overseas?

I’ve never been out of Australia, so I am really looking forward to going to Europe. It’s a busy schedule but I know that lots of the contestants go sightseeing together.

How have you been preparing for the competition?

There is a lot of preparation – we’ve done lots of photo shoots and the music video, and I am now doing lots of vocal and movement rehearsals. I’ve also been watching lots of YouTube videos of past performances, and I met with last year’s Junior Eurovision contestant Isabella Clarke who gave me some great advice!

We hear that you love baking in your spare time! What sort of things do you like to bake?

I love to bake chewy cookies because they are so delicious and my whole family love them!
