ANOTHER OF THE STOPS
we made was the city of Nizwa, to see its famous fort. It was an eventful visit, first of all because we accidentally camped in a car park the night before we arrived; we didn’t realise until the morning that the nice space we had picked was meant for cars. There was also some kind of reenactment event going on the day we visited. We were surprised to find sword-fighting and weaving displays, and everyone in 17th-century costumes. There was a jam-packed souq outside, where we stocked up on dates, coffee and local spices before moving on.
