PARIS, IN DETAIL

Lonely Planet (UK) - - Our Year Of Discovery - Adrienne Pitts, photographer @hellopoe

My travel highlight… was photographing a stor y on the flâneur (a wanderer who obser ves the city around her) in Paris. The weather was not on my side, with near- constant heavy rain, so the conditions presented a creative challenge. How do you shoot one of the most photographed cities in the world through the eyes of one who obser ves it on their daily wanderings? For me the answer was to focus on the moments that someone ambling along in their own world might see: a slant of light; shadows; little corners; and perspectives that blurring your eyes a bit (or peering through the rain) might reveal (en.parisinfo.com). My low moment… was tr ying in vain to dr y out rain-soaked shoes with one of those little hotel hairdryers before setting out to shoot sunrise. In 2019 I am most excited about… making plans to return to Latin America, a place ver y close to my heart.
