From the binding fabric cut six (6)

2 in x WOF strips.

MAKING THE BLOCKS

Arrange the units as shown in the Block 1 Layout Diagram. Join the units in small sections, as follows, before sewing the entire block together.

Join units J, B, C and K. Then join Unit L to the bottom (Fig 1).

Join Units I and A, then join a Unit D to either side. Join another Unit I to the top (Fig 2).

Join Units A, I and G, then join a Unit F to the top and bottom. Join another Unit I to one side (Fig 3).

Sew the three sections from the previous steps to complete Block 1 (Fig 4). Make twelve of Block 1.

To sew Blocks 2–8, arrange the units as shown in each Layout Diagram (see page

28). Sew the units together into smaller sections first to complete each block, just as you did for Block 1.

Make the following number of each of Blocks 2–8:

■ Two (2) of Block 2.

■ Five (5) of Block 3.

■ Two (2) of Block 4.

■ Five (5) of Block 5.

■ Two (2) of Block 6.

■ One (1) of Block 7.

■ One (1) of Block 8.

Lay the blocks out in rows, using the Quilt Layout Diagram as a guide. Make sure your blocks are positioned in the correct orientatio­n.

Join the blocks together in rows, and then join the rows together to complete the quilt top.
