From the binding fabric cut seven (7)

2¼in x WOF strips.

MAKING THE HSTS

9

Make the following pairs from your 4in squares, arrange the squares RST:

■ Twenty (20) Fabric A and background

■ Eighteen (18) Fabric B and Fabric C

■ Twelve (12) Fabric E and Fabric F

10

Take one Fabric A/B pair. Draw a diagonal line on the reverse of Fabric A. Sew ¼in from the line on either side (Fig A).

11

Trim along the drawn line (Fig B) and press each HST unit open. Trim each unit to 3½in square, making sure to align the seam with the 45 degree line on your ruler. 12

Repeat steps 10–11 with the remaining fabric pairs.

FINISHING THE QUILT

13

Arrange the HSTs and 3½in squares into twenty four rows of twenty squares. Refer to the photo for placement.

14

Sew each row together, pressing seams to opposite sides between rows. Sew the rows together to complete the quilt top.

15

Cut your backing in half along the width. Sew together along the long edges using a ½in seam. Press open.

16

Press the quilt top and backing well. Make a quilt sandwich by placing the backing fabric right side down, the batting on top, then the quilt top centrally and right side up. Baste the layers together using your preferred method.

17

Quilt as desired. Lou quilted echoing triangles and horizontal lines.

18

Trim off the excess batting and backing and square up the quilt.

19

Sew the binding strips together end-to-end using diagonal seams. Press the seams open and trim away the dog ears. Fold in half lengthwise, WST, and press.

20
