Fabric B (navy) 1¼yds
Fabric C (light blue) 5/8yd
Fabric D (light pink) ¼yd
Fabric E (grey) 3/8yd
Fabric F (yellow) 3/8yd
Fabric G (white) 2¼yds Binding: 5/8yd
FINISHED SIZE 72in square
Seam allowances are ¼in, unless
otherwise noted. Press seams open, unless
RST = right sides together.
WOF = width of fabric.
HST = Half-square Triangle.
Wash and press all fabrics well

1 From Fabric A cut: One (1) 8½in square. Sixty four (64) 4½in squares.
2 From Fabric B cut: Sixteen (16) 9¾in squares.
3 From Fabric C cut: Eight (8) 9¾in squares.
4 From Fabric D cut: Sixteen (16) 4½in squares.
5 From Fabric E cut: Four (4) 9¾in squares.
6 From Fabric F cut: Two (2) 9¾in squares.
7 From Fabric G cut: Thirty (30) 9¾in squares.
From the binding fabric cut: Eight (8) 2½in x WOF strips.
PIECING THE BLOCKS
Make your HST units using the eight in one method, as follows. Draw two diagonal lines from corner to corner on the reverse of all Fabric G 9¾in squares. Pair each Fabric B, C, E and F 9¾in square with a Fabric G square. Place the squares RST and stitch a ¼in seam allowance on either side of each drawn line.
Cut the square in half vertically and horizontally, then cut along the diagonal lines to make eight HSTs. Trim each HST to 4½in square (Fig 1). Repeat with each square to yield a total of:
