MAKING THE BAG LINING

8

Use a ½in seam allowance to sew the lining in steps 9–12. 9

Place the lining front right side up on your work surface, with the long edges at the top and bottom. Place the lining side pieces on top, both right sides down, at each side. Pin in place (Fig A).

10

Sew along the side of each piece, stopping ½in from the bottom edge and backstitching to secure. Press the seams open.

11

Place the remaining long edge of one side piece RST with the side of the back lining piece. Pin and sew, again stopping ½in from the bottom. Repeat to sew the other side piece to the other end of the back lining piece in the same way, forming a tube.

12

Place the lining base piece at the bottom of the tube, RST. Carefully align the sides and pin in place. With the base piece on the bottom, sew around the outer edge, pivoting with the needle down at the corners. Press and clip corners to complete the lining (Fig B).
