Retro, colourful, summer

-

What inspired this collection?

Sunburst is the celebration of a classic midsummer getaway, inspired by retro motifs from the 60s. As the weather warms up, we start to daydream of vacationing and catching some rays poolside! There’s something really magical about being outdoors during the summer. There’s a certain time of the day, right between high afternoon into early evening when the light is golden and colours are crisp, bright and rich. Sunburst really is an ode to the sunshine and excitement of a summer getaway.

How did you go about curating the colour palette?

Sunburst is filled with a bright, punchy, retro style palette. The splash of deep aquas and blues reference a cool swimming pool, and the shadows and shade cast from tall palm trees. The sweet tangerine oranges, golden sun yellows and candy pinks are the warmth of a sunny glow. Vintage neon hotel signs and retro resort style colours really helped to bring Sunburst’s cheerful palette to life.

How do you see these prints being used by quilters and sewists?

We’d love to see these prints in colourful quilts, all kinds of accessories including beach bags and summer hats, as well as home decor items like pillows, runners and rugs, and of course, apparel pieces like sun dresses, two-piece sets and practically an entire summer wardrobe!

Which is your favourite print from the range?

It’s hard to pick just one! High on the list is definitely Fun in the Sun. There’s nothing better than just laying out on a towel, either by the pool or at the beach, and soaking in some of that sun glow. The colours in this print are bold and playful, which we think helps to express the spirit of summer. Hello Summer has a lot of character and tells the complete story of a summer trip. The retro houses and neon signs transport you into a 1960s midsummer paradise. And of course, our citrussy Peach Lemonade and Mango Lemonade.
