Love Patchwork & Quilting

Strong, fierce, feminine

- BARI J.: EVE

What inspired this collection?

I actually started with snake silhouettes that I painted flowers into. While the snakes didn’t make it into the collection, the idea of ‘fiercely feminine’ was the touchstone for the rest of the group. I created the snakes as a symbol for overcoming fear. By putting flowers in something typically scary, I was taking back its power.

I did the same with the cheetahs in the collection with flowers growing in their silhouettes, a manifestation of the strength of femininity.

How did you go about curating the colour palette?

I’m pretty instinctual about colour. I knew I wanted strong jewel tones and worked it all out from there.

How do you see these prints being used by quilters and sewists?

I think the prints are going to make lovely quilts as well as dresses, tank tops, shorts and other clothing for women. I also see it as home decor. The prints are sized beautifully for pillows and throws.

Which is your favourite print from the range?

You won’t believe it when I say the Art Deco arch print is my favourite! I usually say the florals. But I think that particular print is so versatile and can be used in a lot of ways with so many other collections as well.
