■ Fabric A (navy): 4¾yds

■ Fabric B (light pink): 1¾yds

■ Fabric C (honey): ½yd

■ Fabric D (dark pink): 1yd

■ Fabric E (turquoise): ¾yd

■ Binding fabric: 5/8yd

■ Backing fabric: 4½yds

■ Batting: 80in square

NOTES

■ Seam allowances are 1/4in, unless

otherwise noted.

■ Press seams open throughout,

unless otherwise instructed.

■ RST = right sides together.

■ WOF = width of fabric.

■ HST = Half-square Triangle

CUTTING OUT

1 From Fabric A cut:

■ Four (4) 3½in x 6½in.

■ Thirty two (32) 3½in squares.

■ Four (4) 4½in squares.

2 From Fabric B cut:

■ Four (4) 3½in x 12½in.

■ Eight (8) 3½in squares.

3 From Fabric C cut:

■ Eight (8) 2in squares.

■ Four (4) 4½in squares.

4 From Fabric D cut:

■ Four (4) 4½in squares.

■ Four (4) 2in x 8in.

5 From Fabric E cut:

■ Four (4) 4½in squares.

■ Four (4) 2in x 8in.

■ Sixteen (16) 2in squares.

PIECING UNIT A

6 Take one Fabric D and one Fabric E 2in x 8in strip and sew them together along the long edges. Trim the sewn strip to create two 3½in squares (Fig 1).

7 Take a Fabric A 3½in square and draw a diagonal line on the wrong side. Place it RST with one of your stripe squares, taking care to make sure that the Fabric E strip is on the left and that the diagonal line runs from the top right corner to the bottom left, as demonstrat­ed in Fig 2.

8 Sew along the marked line. Then trim 1/4in below the sewn line and press open, to make Unit A (Fig 3).

9 Repeat the process detailed in steps 7– 8, arranging the Fabric E strip on the left and with the diagonal line running
