FABRICS USED
Fabrics are from the Speckled Collection by Ruby Star Society as follows:
■ Fabric A: Sorbet.
■ Fabric B: Clementine.
■ Fabric C: Pale Pink.
■ Background fabric: White Gold. Plus backing fabric from the Strawberry Fields collection.
CUTTING OUT

From each of Fabrics A and B cut:
■ Four (4) Cushion Template A.

From Fabric C cut:
■ Four (4) 6¼in squares.

From the background fabric cut:
■ Two (2) 75/ 8in squares.
■ Sixteen (16) Cushion Template B.

From the backing fabric cut:
■ Two (2) 20½in x 13¼in.
PIECING THE CUSHION TOP

Following steps 6–7 of the quilt instructions, make eight Orange Peel units, trimming each unit to 5½in square. Sew the units in sets of four as in step 9, in order to make two Orange Peel blocks.

Follow steps 10–11 of the quilt instructions to make two Square-in-aSquare blocks, using the background 75/ 8in squares and Fabric B 6¼in squares. Trim each block to measure 10½in square.

Arrange the blocks in a four-patch, referring to the Layout Diagram. Sew together in pairs, then sew the pairs together to complete the cushion top.
QUILTING THE CUSHION TOP

Press the cushion top and lining well. Make a quilt sandwich with the lining, batting and cushion top and baste together using your preferred method.

Quilt as desired. Trim off the excess batting and backing fabric, and then square up to measure 20½in square.
MAKING THE CUSHION ENVELOPE

Take one backing piece and press under ½in along one long edge. Press under ½in again to enclose the raw edge. Topstitch in place. Repeat this process for the other envelope piece.

Place your envelope pieces on the cushion top RST with hemmed ends overlapping. Pin in place. Sew around the outer edge of the cushion. Repeat this process with a zig zag stitch along the raw edge, within the seam allowance, to stop the edges from fraying.

Turn right sides out, press and insert a cushion pad to finish the cushion.
