1 From the background fabric cut:
■ Two (2) 241/2in x 11/2in.
■ Two (2) 201/2in x 11/2in.
■ Eight (8) 11/4in squares.
■ Twenty four (24) 11/2in squares.
■ Forty (40) 13/4in squares.
■ Forty (40) 2in squares.
■ Twenty four (24) 21/4in squares.
■ Thirty two (32) 21/2in squares.
2 From Fabric A cut:
■ Four (4) 21/2in squares.
3 From Fabric C cut:
■ Twelve (12) 21/2in squares.
4 From Fabric D cut:
■ Twenty (20) 21/2in squares.
5 From Fabric E cut:
■ Twenty (20) 21/2in squares.
6 From Fabric F cut:
■ Twelve (12) 21/2in squares
7 From the binding fabric cut:
■ Three (3) 21/2in x WOF.
PIECING THE SNOWBALL BLOCKS
8 Set aside the background 21/2in squares,
as these will be used in the final quilt layout. Draw a diagonal line corner to corner on the wrong side of all the remaining background squares.
10 Arrange the fabrics in the following
groups, then follow step 11 of the quilt instructions to make the Snowball Blocks.
■ Group 1: All the Fabric A squares
with all the 11/4in background squares.
■ Group 2: All the Fabric C squares
with all the 11/2in background squares.
■ Group 2: All the Fabric D squares
with all the 13/4in background squares.
■ Group 3: All the Fabric E squares
with all the 2in background squares.
■ Group 4: All the Fabric F squares
with all the 21/4in background squares.
ASSEMBLING THE QUILT TOP
10 Take eight background 21/2in squares
and the following Snowball blocks: one Fabric A, three each of Fabrics C and F, and five each of Fabrics D and E. Arrange the Snowball blocks in five rows of five, referring to Fig 1 for placement.
