Add titles to your movie

Incorporate titles into your project in Adobe Premiere Elements

-

Look at any movie or TV show and you’ll be hard pressed to find one that doesn’t contain titles somewhere. You can have opening titles, closing credits, and obviously, anything in between, such as location information and lower thirds. No matter how visual your story is, you’ll likely want your viewers to read something at some point, if only to know who helped bring your project to completion.

Adobe Premiere Elements offers a great range of credits and titles, organised into families, to help you create a distinctive and coherent look throughout your project. Of course, you’re not forced to follow such regimented guidelines, and with dozens of titles to choose from, just selecting the right one for your project could keep you busy for a while!

You can simply choose a totally standard, no-frills title, but it’s fun to experiment with all the fancy ones that are part and parcel of this app. Making movies is supposed to be a creative process, after all, and a cleverly animated title sequence can give your movie added personality or a professional look.

The way titles work is extremely similar (although not totally identical) between Quick and Expert modes, so we’ll be focussing our effort on the former for the purposes of this exercise. Open up an existing project (or create a new one) and let’s see how we can create and customise titles in Premiere Elements. Steve Paris
