The Bling Edition

The Apple Watch Edition originally came with an 18 carat gold option that retailed for between $10,000 and $17,000, putting Apple into the premium watch market. It caused quite a stir when it was first released but was taken off sale in September 2016, and the Edition name now only refers to a ceramic version of the Apple Watch, which retails for a much more modest £1,299. It appears that Apple’s ambitions to enter the high-end luxury watch market have retreated.

How much? The Veblen effect was short-lived. Thankfully.
