Share My Location options >
Confusingly, there are two items named Share My Location in iOS. One is found in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Share My Location. The other is in Settings > Privacy > System Services. Turning off one doesn’t switch off the other, but they are interdependent – so what’s the difference?
According to Apple, the first is simply a way to toggle access to your location for people you’ve previously chosen to share it with. The second controls Share My Location access systemwide.
Basically, the functionality of the first depends on the second switch already being turned on. If you then want to share your location – say, in Find My Friends – the first also has to be turned on; the app will prompt you to do this.
