£109.99 FROM Reolink, reolink.com f eatures 1080p Full HD, infrared night vision, PIR sensor, two-way audio

After reviewing the impressive Argus 2 security camera back in MF #324, Reolink returns with

Argus Pro. Despite the Pro moniker, this model trades bells and whistles for a more affordable product. Notably, it lacks its predecessor’s improved ‘Starlight’ nightvision mode, it only offers infrared night vision.

The new unit offers the same wire-free experience and comes with one included rechargeable battery. The bundle we reviewed also includes the Reolink Solar Panel, passive infrared (PIR) motion detection, two-way communication and full 1080p HD resolution. The Pro model does add a UV– and water–resistant protective skin, however.

The Pro model also comes with an outdoor wall mount, but you don’t get the less obtrusive magnetic wall mount which doubles as a base for sticking on a shelf indoors on the other models.

If you’re hoping the Pro might check off a few remaining items on your wish list, you’re likely to be disappointed – it’s still only available in white, there’s no AC power adapter and cloud recording remains absent. (SD card recording works, but no card is included.)

However, we were impressed with the MicroUSB cable that’s over 3.5 metres long and the bundled solar panel, as well as the protective hood. The twoway audio is also very impressive at this price – useful if you want to use the Pro as a front door access point.

?? ?? The wire-free Argus Pro camera balances its feature set to come in at a reasonable price point.
