How to Stay on task with Handoff

1 Turn on Handoff

Open System Preferences and click the General icon. In this pane, turn on ‘Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices’. On iOS, go to Settings > General > Handoff and turn on the feature using the switch on this page.

2 Switch between devices

When carrying out a task on iOS in an app that supports Handoff, click the icon to the left of Finder in your Mac’s Dock to continue the task there. To pass the other way, open iOS’s app switcher and tap the banner at the bottom.

3 Use AirDrop instead

To send one or more files to another device, use AirDrop. In Finder on your Mac, choose Go > AirDrop and drag the file onto the icon for the receiving device. On iOS, open the Share sheet. In the top row, tap the icon of the device to send to.
