Smart HDR will try to optimise exposure across the frame, but you can still tap the live view to set exposure (and focus) for a certain point. If an important part is in shadow but a patch of bright sky is causing underexposure, tap the shadow area; if it’s clouds you’re trying to capture and you don’t mind a dark landscape, tap the sky.
