YOU WILL LEARN How to free up storage space on your iPhone or iPad

YOU’LL NEED An iPhone or iPad

No matter how much space you have on your iPhone or iPad, it never seems to be enough. You may well find that you’re a serial app downloader – because, let’s face it – you just have to find out if that new one is better than the one you’ve been using for years, or you might frequently swap messages with attachments, or download podcasts and then never listen to them… There are endless ways to fill up precious storage space. Fortunately, there are also lots of ways that you can free up space without compromising the way you use your device. Whether you make better use of cloud storage to store documents and photos, are more disciplined about offloading or deleting apps, or break the habit of downloading every new podcast that takes your fancy, there are plenty of options.

You can even use external storage devices to archive files. SanDisk’s iXPAND is a nifty little device with a Lightning connector at one end and USB plug at the other. Use it with its accompanying app and you can offload files in no time. And if you have an iPad running iPadOS and a USB-C connector, you can hook up any USB storage device and use that. Finally, most NAS boxes have iOS apps that allow you to store files on them and access them on your iOS device. Or you can hook them up in the Files app. There will be no excuse for running out of storage space after you’ve read the tips on these pages. Kenny Hemphill
