HOW TO Create and run shortcuts

1 Explore the Gallery

Tap the Shortcuts app, then tap Gallery at the bottom. Swipe up to view the categories of shortcuts; tap See All to see all the shortcuts in a category, or swipe left to scroll through the shortcuts in a particular category.

2 Add a shortcut

When you find a shortcut you like, tap it then tap Add Shortcut. Tap My Shortcuts and then tap the More button (…) on the shortcut. When it opens, tap the More button again and choose Add to Home Screen.

3 Create a shortcut

Tap My Shortcuts, then tap ‘ + ’ (top right of the screen), or Create Shortcut beneath your shortcuts. Tap More and type a name for your shortcut. Tap Done. Tap Add Action. Scroll through the list of suggestions.

4 Test your action

If there is a suggestion that fits what you want, tap it. If not, tap a category at the top of the screen. Scroll through the actions and choose one. If the action has options, choose from them. Tap Play to test your action.

5 Add and save

Tap the Stop button to stop it running and tap ‘+’ to add another action. Test the action again. Keep adding and testing actions until it does what you want it to do. When you’re finished, tap Done to save the shortcut.

6 Change the icon

In My Shortcuts, tap More on any action. Tap More again on the shortcut’s page. Tap its icon. Tap a colour to change the icon colour, or tap Glyph and choose one to change the symbol shown on the icon. Tap Done.

7 Choose a trigger

Tap Automation at the bottom of the screen. Tap Create Personal Automation. Choose a trigger for the automation, such as an event and then choose a value for that event from the available options. Tap Next.

8 Final steps

Tap Add Action and choose an action from Suggestions, or a category then choose an action. Tap ‘+’ to add actions or Play to test. Tap Next, then Done. To Edit the automation, tap it or to delete it, swipe left over it.
