See words in close-up
Use Hover Text in macOS so you can see screen content more clearly
IT WILL TAKE 5 minutes
YOU WILL LEARN How to supersize on-screen text in macOS using Accessibility
YOU’LL NEED macOS Catalina
While the words that appear onscreen in text documents, email and messages are mostly easy to see in macOS sometimes you just need the words to be bigger – much, much bigger.
While you could use the zoom function in the app you’re using (if it has one), or even switch screen resolution using System Preferences > Displays, macOS has another solution – it’s called Hover Text and you’ll find it in System Preferences > Accessibility > Zoom. Enable it and whenever you see any text you can’t read easily, simply place the pointer over it and press ç (or any other key you specify). After a second or two a much bigger version of that text will appear in a separate window. You can then scroll through that window in the usual way. Problem solved.
Hover Text doesn’t just work in text docs, emails and messages – any text you place the pointer over will be enlarged when you press ç – including menu commands, Finder buttons and more.
