MULTI USERS WITH APPLE TV

Set up multiple logins for different users

- Rob Mead-Green

IT WILL TAKE 5 minutes

YOU WILL LEARN How to create and use multiple Apple IDs on Apple TV

YOU’LL NEED An Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K running tvOS 13

Your iPhone or iPad may not be able to support multiple logins yet, but Apple TV can and does, thanks to tvOS 13. Unfortunately, it’s not quite true user switching like in macOS – switch from one Apple ID to another and you’ll still see the same Home screen and any installed apps. Plus you’ll also be able to view the primary user’s purchases, including apps, TV shows and movies, as well as their iCloud photos. What multi-user accounts on Apple TV does do is enable you to see personalised viewing recommendations from the iTunes Store, stream Apple Music, and download or view any iTunes or App Store purchases you’ve made.

As well as being able to create and use an Apple ID in tvOS 13, doing so in the Home app on iPhone or iPad also gives you access on Apple TV, HomePod and other AirPlay devices. To add someone to the Home app, open it, tap the house icon (top left), then under People tap Invite and type in the email address of the person you wish to add.
