Enhance people pictures

People are a popular subject for a snap, but they can be disappointed if a shot fails to show them in a flattering light.

Photos captured in artificial light have a warm hue, which makes caucasian skin tones look orange. Fortunately, you can set the Photos app’s White Balance tool to cool down skin tones for a natural look. A burst of camera flash can turn black pupils red. This is more noticeable when using a compact camera or an old phone. Again, Photos can cure cases of red-eye in a couple of clicks.

1 Skin tones

If indoor lighting causes people to look orange, set the White Balance tool to prioritise for people by choosing Skin Tone in the menu. Click the eyedropper on a person to create more natural-looking skin.

2 Remove red-eye

Toggle open the Red-Eye panel. Click Auto to remove multiple examples. If that fails, click the eyedropper, adjust the brush size to fit the subject’s pupils then click on each pupil to turn it black.
