HOW TO Organise the App Library

1 Open an app

If the app is one of the three large icons in a Library folder, just tap on it. If not, tap in the bottom right-hand corner of the folder to display all the apps in it, then scroll down until you see the app you want and tap it.

2 Delete an app

Tap and hold in the centre of any Library folder. If you want to delete one of the ‘big three’ apps, tap the ’X’ in its corner, then Delete App. To delete any other app, tap on the bottom-right corner then tap the ‘X’.

3 Show or hide Home screens

Tap and hold in an empty spot on any Home Screen (not the App Library). Tap the dots (bottom of the screen) to view a grid of Home screens. Check those you want to be visible and uncheck those you want to hide.

4 Search for an app

If you’re not sure which folder an app is stored in, use the Search bar at the top of the Library screen. Tap on the bar and you’ll see an alphabetical list of apps. Start typing the name to filter the list until you see the app.

5 Keep decluttering

There’s little point in tidying up your Home screens if new apps clutter it up again. Tap Settings, then Home Screen. Select App Library Only; new downloads will be added to the App Library but not to the Home screens.

6 Manage notifications

If you don’t want notification badges to be visible when an App Library folder is ‘closed’, switch them off so you only see them when you tap on the folder. Go to Settings > Home Screen and toggle ‘Show in App Library’ to off.

7 Move an app

To move an app from the Library to a Home screen, tap on the Library folder housing it, then tap and hold on the app and choose ‘Add to Home Screen’. You can then place the app wherever you like.

8 Stop using the App Library

If you’ve used the App Library for a while but want to stop using it, follow step 3 and check all your Home screens to make them visible. Then you can organise apps in folders manually, if you choose.
