HOW TO use Family Sharing >

-

1 Open up Preferences

On your Mac, the Family Sharing features live in System Preferences (top right). On iOS and iPadOS, you’ll find Family Sharing in Settings. In this tutorial, we’re assuming the person with the iCloud account you want to share is you.

2 See who’s sharing

We’re already using Family Sharing, so as your can see we have four accounts listed here: the family organiser, who is the person that’s sharing their iCloud services, and the other individual family members that have been invited.

3 Invite everybody

If your family already have iCloud accounts, you can send an invitation to start sharing with them straight away. You might notice that our available apps include Tweetbot: some third-party subscriptions work with Family Sharing.

4 Add the kids

For under-13s, Apple enables you to create child accounts: just click on Add Child Account instead of Invite People. You’ll need to provide a valid payment method. Don’t worry, Apple’s not going to take any money here.

5 Confirm the account

There’s an interesting bit in the small print here: once you’ve added a child under 13, you can’t then remove their account from your family group. You can only transfer their account to a different person’s family group.

6 Manage on your mobile

You can also set up and manage Family Sharing on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Go to Settings to do this; from here, you’ll be able to see what you’re sharing and which members of your family group you’re sharing it with.
