KEEP MAC APPS UP TO DATE

Use MacUpdater to keep your apps in check

- Alex Blake

IT WILL TAKE 5 minutes

YOU WILL LEARN How to quickly update all your apps in one process

YOU’LL NEED MacUpdater ($14.99, about £10), macOS 10.14 or later

Keeping all your Mac apps up to date is important but doing it quickly and with minimal fuss is certainly easier said than done. It is fine if all your apps are from the App Store, but what if you have apps that you downloaded direct from the developer’s website? Then things take a bit longer and get a bit more complicated.

Unless you use MacUpdater, that is. This app scans your Mac, finds which apps are installed, then looks for updates. If it finds them, it lets you update all your apps at once with a few quick clicks. It only takes a couple of minutes and makes keeping your apps current and secure totally painless.

MacUpdater is highly customisable, from the types of apps it scans for right down to the colour of the text it uses. Want to only scan for Apple silicon-compatible apps that are sandboxed and not downloaded from the App Store? You can do that by tweaking MacUpdater’s settings. It is this combination of power and simplicity that makes it a great addition to any Mac user’s toolbox.
