HOW TO Set up AirPods as hearing aids
1 Set up Control Centre
Go to Settings > Control Centre. Swipe up until you see More Controls. Tap the ‘+’ next to Hearing to add it. Now when you pull up Control Centre, you’ll see the Hearing (ear) icon that will let you access Live Listen features.
2 Start Live Listen
With your AirPods connected to your iPhone, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to activate Control Centre. Tap the ear icon, then tap Live Listen. You should now hear what your iPhone’s mic is picking up.
3 Set up Accommodations
Tap Settings, then Accessibility. Scroll to Audio/Visual, tap it, then tap Headphone Accommodations. Toggle the switch on then choose one of the Tune Audio For options. Choose what to apply the settings with.
4 Customise the setup
In Headphone Accommodations, choose Custom Audio Setup then tap Continue twice. Follow the instructions, choosing which version of each music clip sounds best. Or tap Cancel to go back to Accommodations.
5 Customise Transparency
Transparency mode enables you to hear what’s going on around you. Navigate to Headphone Accommodations again, and tap Transparency mode. Toggle Custom Transparency mode on to see the options.
6 Further refine
Use the sliders to alter the amplification, balance, and tone. Transparency mode can be activated from the Control Centre volume control, from Hearing, or from the force sensor on AirPods Pro or button on AirPods Max.
