Recovering Stocks losses

When I was editing my listings Q in Stocks, all entries suddenly disappeared. Can I restore them from my Time Machine backup? by HARRY JOHNSON

A The Stocks widget is more complex than meets the eye. It also isn’t entirely independent, relying on the Stocks app, which in turn depends on News. There’s no simple way to restore its data or settings from a Time Machine backup, as those are spread across at least three places in your Home Library folder, inside both Containers and Group Containers folders. You may find it simplest to open the Stocks app and set up its entries from scratch. The solution might be simpler if your Stocks are shared using iCloud, which you can check in the iCloud item in your Apple ID pane. Disable that sharing as quickly as you can on your Mac, and check whether the list remains intact on another Mac or device connected to that same iCloud account. If they’re unaffected, it means the change hasn’t yet been synced up to iCloud, which can then be used to sync down to your Mac. Leaving the Stocks item unchecked in iCloud, ensure the Stocks app and widget are closed and restart your Mac. Check whether they’re still absent once it has started up again. Then close the Stocks app and widget, open the Apple ID pane and tick Stocks there to share it again. Give your Mac a few minutes to sync with iCloud, and with a bit of luck your list of stocks will have synced down from iCloud, and have returned to normal again.
